No key starts the vehicle—or one still does
A replacement without any usable key, an added spare, and a damaged key that still starts the vehicle require different parts of the key system.
I lost the only key
The only key is gone, stolen, broken, or unusable. KeyHive may need to create both the cut and electronically recognized parts without an original key present.
A spare is needed
Have one working car key and want a spare? KeyHive cuts and programs additional car keys and key fobs for many vehicles, including transponder keys, remote head keys, smart keys, and proximity fobs.
The key is physically damaged
The blade, case, buttons, or attachment point is damaged. Explain which functions still operate before assuming the entire key needs replacement.
The fob is missing but a key still starts the vehicle
Lost or damaged your key fob, or want a spare? KeyHive can provide, cut when needed, program, and test compatible key fobs for many vehicles.
The vehicle is locked, the key was stolen, or a part was already purchased
These common complications can add entry, security, or compatibility questions to the replacement.
The vehicle is locked and no usable key remains
Entry and key creation are separate results. For many compatible vehicles, KeyHive can restore access, create the blade, program starting, and include the remote or proximity functions selected for the replacement.
A key is missing or stolen
Making a new key does not automatically stop the missing one from starting the vehicle. On some vehicles, KeyHive may be able to change which keys can start the car. The metal blade and physical door locks remain a separate security decision.
A KeyHive key or one you already bought
KeyHive can match a replacement for many vehicles or check a key or fob you already bought. Matching buttons do not confirm the electronics, blade, condition, or whether the part can be reused, so check it before it is cut or becomes nonreturnable.
Decide what the new key needs to do
A basic spare, remote-head key, and proximity fob do not deliver the same functions even when each can start the vehicle.
Mechanical entry
A blade may open the door or serve as the emergency key stored inside a fob. It must be cut for the vehicle’s lock.
Electronic starting
Transponder keys and proximity fobs must be recognized by the vehicle before the engine will start.
Remote and proximity features
Buttons, passive entry, trunk release, and push-start capability depend on the compatible part and the functions included.
Car key replacement questions
Can a mobile locksmith make a car key if I don’t have the original?
For many vehicles, yes. The model year and whether it uses a turn key or push button determine whether KeyHive can cut and program another key at the parking location.
Is adding a spare different from making a key when none starts?
Yes. A key that still starts the vehicle can change how the spare is identified, cut, and programmed. Mention every key that still starts the vehicle when asking for a spare.
Does replacement include programming?
Programming is needed when the vehicle uses a transponder, remote-head key, or proximity fob that must be recognized. KeyHive confirms what the selected key requires before service is arranged.
What should be tested before the replacement is finished?
Test every existing key or fob that should remain usable, along with each function included in the replacement: mechanical entry, starting, remote buttons, and passive entry. A basic spare and a full-function fob are not the same result.
If the doors are locked, can KeyHive still get in and make the key?
For many vehicles, yes. Opening the vehicle and creating a usable key are separate results, and KeyHive may be able to handle both where the vehicle is parked.
Can KeyHive make a key for a recovered vehicle that has no key?
Often, depending on the exact vehicle and the condition of its locks, ignition, steering column, and key system. Theft damage outside the key and lock system may need another automotive specialist.
Can KeyHive provide the fob, cutting, and programming together?
For many vehicles, yes. KeyHive can check the exact vehicle and provide the compatible key or fob, cut the blade when needed, program it, and test the functions included.
Replacement keys by location
Car-key replacement where the vehicle is parked
For many compatible vehicles, KeyHive can make a replacement or spare in a driveway, apartment lot, workplace, hotel, or public parking area within these service locations.
